the road to emmaus

An old and very dear friend of mine lost his mother this week.

I grieve his loss. I know what a special relationship he had with her. I know how her eyes twinkled whenever she talked about him.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the connections that God makes in our lives. The beautiful fabric of relationships, connected in ways we cannot even begin to understand.

The connection between my friend and his mother will never be lost… It is amazing how life, and then death, makes this so.

I grieve my own loss of this friendship in my life. I am hopeful that in eternity, we will be able to mend the hurts and losses. I am hopeful that my dad, and his mom, and all of those men, women, and children in the great cloud of witnesses will whisper to each of us as we continue through this life.

Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.

Luke 24:5
