blessing

“It would be infinitely lonely to live in a world without blessing. The word blessing evokes a sense of protection; it suggests that no life is alone or unreachable. Each life is clothed in raiment of spirit that secretly links it to everything else. Though suffering and chaos befall us, they can never quench that inner life of providence.” -John O’Donohue, in To Bless the Space Between Us.

Today I begin to write my prayer journal electronically. Not sure how this will go… I really do love the feel of the pencil on the paper… Its sound… The process of turning the page… At times, I am even acutely aware of the process of erasing, and re-writing. And yet I know that I am called to write, and to share this with a community of believers. It’s funny, as I sit here with this iPad in my lap and consider what to say, the words flow so easily. Beloved God, bless this effort. Make my words an instrument of your love and peace.
